Vitesse Arnhem penalized 18 points by the Dutch Football Association for financial violations
The Dutch Football Association's independent licensing committee has imposed an 18-point deduction on Vitesse Arnhem as a penalty for the club's failure to meet licensing requirements over an extended period. The severity and scope of the penalty are determined by the seriousness of the violations of the licensing system, which includes providing incorrect information related to forensic investigations that may contravene regulatory sanctions and concealing information pertaining to the assessment of Vitesse's financial sustainability.
Additionally, the licensing committee will make rulings on other potential violations in the future. In this regard, Vitesse must first provide further information. If additional penalties are necessary, the licensing committee will intervene again.
The licensing committee has also responded to the club's submission of a restructuring plan. Currently, the committee is awaiting the revised plan. If there are still unresolved issues, the licensing committee will make a decision in the near future. (End of announcement)
Before the deduction, Vitesse was already bottom of the Eredivisie table with 17 points. With the deduction, their points total has become -1, meaning they have been relegated to the Eerste Divisie ahead of schedule.
